New Poem

“Aint that what were fighting for”

I can take an airplane fly way up in the sky
Or jump a train ride it deep into the night
Ive slept in the rain without a tear in my eye
Ill get lost in my brain before I even try

I got a girl I don’t deserve
But she still loves me
Im just a boy, just a herb
But she still hugs me
Aint that what were fighting for

I can take contradiction as long as you lie
Or style a revelation but you know it wont fly
Ive slept in translation and I don’t know why
ill get there appreciation before I even try

I got a girl I don’t deserve
But she still loves me
Im just a boy, just a herb
But she still hugs me
Aint that what were fighting for
A chance for something more
Aint that worth fighting for
Aint that worth dieing for

I can smile all day like a fool so high
Or jump in a lake underneath the night sky
Ive slept in a way that’ll bring a tear to your eye
But I awoke dieing before I could even try

I got a girl I don’t deserve
But she still loves me
Im just a boy, just a herb
But she still hugs me
Aint that what were fighting for
Aint that what were fighting for

Capsized by better trys, little lies in a disguise
Aint that what were fighting for

no real specific reason for this poem today, i just had the chorus running through my head last night and i didnt get a chance to scribble this down til today. I was thinking of our bretheren in Iraq and Afghanistan, thinking of the places they sleep, what they have to eat, and the hardships they face everyday. Now i know i have never been there, and i know i could never justify attempting to speak for one of our soldiers so i will not do so. But i will say that i can imagine and dream about what life might be like for them, but i will (thankfully) never know. God Bless our troops and bring them home safe!
